Clara Prioux (b. 1989 in Le Mans, France) grew up moving and traveling in France and abroad. In 2012, she received her DNSEP (option Art) from the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs of Strasbourg, France as a student of the Equipe 1, a class directed by Manfred Sternjakob. She wasn't taught photography. Instead, through exchange and discussion, emphasis was made on the experience of individual responsibility and personal commitment as an artistic approach. Today, it is with these concepts in mind that she photographs her environment, using photography as a global approach and positioning.
Prioux has been involved in photography and self-publishing for several years and has participated in various group shows in Paris, Rouen, New York or Munich. One of her first artist books, Nineteen Potted Palms was included in the publication Various Small Books (referencing Various Small Books by Ed Ruscha), published by the MIT Press. She is also a member of the artist duo Prioux & Peixoto. She lives in Paris and travels in France and abroad. Prioux is currently working on several bodies of work including a long-run photography project about Fort Mill, SC where a part of her family relocated ten years ago and Ville Moyenne, a photography project on a french rural town.
